Butterfly life cycle

Second graders are having a great time observing and journaling about our caterpillars, as we learn about the butterfly life cycle. It is amazing how much the caterpillars have changed in just a few days!

Our mission at First Presbyterian Day School is to educate and equip students to change the world for God’s glory.

ELEMENTARY (1st-5th grade) FIELD DAY - Friday, May 13th- 9:15 to 12noon. Half-day early dismissal for 1st-5th grades. (3K, Pre-K, K students regular school hours, 8:15-3pm.)

Bracelets for “Haitian Hope” and “Threads of Hope” are on sale now for $2 in the office. Proceeds will benefit these ministries to the poor in Haiti and the Philippines.

CHECK OUT our SUMMER CAMP brochure online! Through FPD’s Center for Discovery, students can explore, play, discover, learn, and create this summer. Classes include sports, crafts, pets, baking, music, Harry Potter - there is something for every student! All are hosted on our campus by caring instructors who teach according to FPD’s Core Values. Bring your friends, neighbors, and cousins! FPD’s uniform consignment sale is May 23rd – 24th in the MAC. You may buy and sell new and/or gently-used FPD uniform items, any item purchased in The Viking Store, and other school-related items. For security issues, we ask that items with an FPD logo not be donated locally. Any FPD item can be donated to the school year-round, by dropping off at The Viking Store or school office. SUMMER READING – Every FPD student is encouraged to read LOTS this summer! Please check the website for details regarding your child’s required reading and bookreports to be completed for ALL rising students in 1st-5th grade.
(Those entering grades 4-6 are required to read several select books listed here, which will be on sale at our Summer Reading Book Fair in the Media Center soon.)

CAMP WOODMEN: Children ages 8-15 may enjoy this 5-day, overnight camp June 6-10, at Camp Kaleo in Monroe County, sponsored by Woodmen of the World. Activities include obstacle course, archery, kayaking, games, fishing and swimming. Call 478-719-3958 or email: jrspires@woodmen.org for more info.

THANK YOU for donating during our Goodwill Donation contest. FPD Elementary tied for first place and received a generous check! Mrs. Justice’s 3rd grade class won for highest classroom participation percentage and will receive a pizza and ice cream party!

Field Day is May 13th

Here are some important times for Elementary Field Day:

*1st-5th grade will have an EARLY DISMISSAL (Field Day is 9:15-12:00)

*Extended Day will be available if you need it, but students will need to bring a lunch.

*3K, Pre-K, and K will have a REGULAR SCHOOL DAY from 8:15-3:00.

Register now for the 17th Annual FPD Golf Tournament on Monday, April 18th at Idle Hour Country Club. Cost is $150 per player or $600 per four-person team. Includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, golf balls, and golf shirt. Visit www.fpdmacon.org/golf-tournament for info.

Grandparents’ Day Shirts: The Viking Store has restocked their super-soft Grandparent’s T-shirts ($15 each.) Check them out on Facebook and Instagram! 

SAFETY DRILL: Elementary students in 3K-5th grade will practice our safety procedures on Monday, April 11th. Safety is a top priority at FPD. This drill will help us practice precautions and procedures should an “unsafe” situation arise on our campus. We want to inform parents about this safety drill in case your child tells you about it. Thank you!

All students 1st-8th grade will be taking standardized tests. Please remember the importance of early bedtimes and rest. Children should eat a good breakfast, including some protein, and must arrive at school ON TIME. Please do not schedule doctor’s appointments or other activities that cause your child to miss school or leave early during these days.

LIBRARY NEWS: Wow! What a Book Fair! Thank you to students, parents, and grandparents for supporting our Fair so generously. Our profits translate into lots of new books and hopefully another awesome guest author next year. Our Book Fair was run by our wonderful library VPA mom, Elizabeth Hardy, who enlisted the help of many moms and dads. Thank you so much, Elizabeth and volunteers, for giving your time and energy! You’re the best!

BACKPACK MINISTRY: Help us restock by sending vienna sausages, peanut butter crackers, fruit cups, and juice pouches. We’re always thankful for your help!

Congratulations to the 17 students who participated in our MATH-A-THON! Together you raised $2,344 for the patients of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Way to go!
